Georgette is a thin, semi-transparent fabric with a dry hand and grainy surface due to the high twist per inch of the warp and weft threads. The term georgette, comes from the 20th century French dressmaker, Georgette de la Plante.  Madame Georgette de la Plante, a contemporary of Coco Chanel, was the first designer to use this fabric.  With so much twist in the yarns, this material has a natural bounce that makes anything that is created come alive.  This fabric stretches 20% along the weft.
