Jacket Challenge 2009 -
2010
 |
Hooded parka style jacket made in Melton wool cloth and
hand stitched with blanket stitch. Decorated with woolen appliqués
depicting historical Victoria (Circa 1860) and surrounding historical
geography. Appliqués designed by sketching buildings, etc. still
standing and by using old photographs for those no longer in existence.
Entire project is hand sewn- approximately
80-90 hours work, including design time.

Semi-fitted, partially interfaced, lined jacket, has
princess seams, collar, welt pockets with flaps, two piece sleeves 3/4
length, buttoned closings. Italian wool with cashmere and Bemberg
lining. |

Lilac boiled wool jacket. Fitted, unlined with brocades,
fabric lace embellishments on panels, pockets, back and collar. Inspired
by Kous van der Akker's techniques. |

Semi-fitted, partially interfaced, lined, above mid-knee
length jacket. Has leather collar, patch pockets with flaps, side
pockets with leather, and long-two piece sleeves. Leather trimmed
buttonhole closures. |

This jacket is made from fine purple wool. It features a
unique from closing with hand-made buttonholes and an asymmetrical hem.
Insets of contrasting silks in the pockets and on the back provide and
on the back provide interest. The silks are features in appliqués as
well as surprise touches in the lining. Meandering fibers, beading,
needle felting and free hand machine sewing and texture.

"Welcome Home To Canada" Jacket. After many years away,
this year I came back to Canada. This jacket expresses my joy and
appreciation of our beautiful country. Techniques used: Fabric collage,
hard and soft edge free-motion embroidery, appliqué, hand embroidery,
beading. Inspiration: Paintings by The Group of Seven, and The First
Nations Totems. |
